Introduction

It is a passion for all things audio that drives us at Vivid Audio UK Ltd. With collective experience of over eighty years in the HiFi industry, we know what it takes to deliver quality products, service, support and, ultimately, enjoyment for our customers.

Background

Vivid Audio UK Ltd’s two partners – Ray Rowles and Laurence Dickie (or Dic, as he is more affectionately known) – met during the ‘80’s whilst working at UK loudspeaker brand Bowers & Wilkins.  Ray was the financial controller and Dic worked in engineering.  Whilst at B&W, Dic was responsible for developing some of the company’s ground-breaking technology namely Matrix™ cabinet bracing, pressure vessel sub-bass loading and tapering tube technology, all of which is still in use within B&W’s current model range.  Dic left B&W in the mid ‘90’s but only after he had designed the Nautilus™, the company’s flagship product which was widely considered to be the best speaker in the world and still available today in its original form after over fifteen years production.

Following his departure, Dic was invited to join UK-based sound reinforcement company Turbosound  which he continues to this day. In 2001, he met Philip Guttentag and created South African loudspeaker company Vivid Audio.  Given a free creative hand, Dic has gone on to develop a comprehensive range of products for Vivid Audio including the range-topping G1 ‘Giya’.  In receiving universal acclaim the world over, the G1 is now considered by many quarters as the speaker that eclipses the Nautilus and sets new standards for loudspeaker design.

Ray also left B&W in the mid 90’s and went on to help establish loudspeaker company Blueroom whilst running a world music production company.  It was during this time that Ray helped Dic to set up his loudspeaker development consultancy.   In 2005 they established Vivid Audio UK Ltd together; a company formed initially to promote Vivid Audio and now the distributor of some of the world’s finest audio products in the UK.
